What is the most important information I should know about Nexium?
• Do not stop taking Nexium even if you begin to feel better b12 and nexium. Your symptomsmay improve before the condition is fully treated b12 and nexium.
• Do not break or chew the capsules b12 and nexium. Swallow them whole b12 and nexium. They are speciallyformulated to release slowly in the body b12 and nexium.
What is Nexium?
• Nexium decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach b12 and nexium.
• Nexium is used to treat ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERDor heartburn), erosive esophagitis, and other conditions involving excessivestomach acid production b12 and nexium.
• Nexium may also be used for purposes other than those listed in thismedication guide b12 and nexium.
Who should not take Nexium?
• Before taking Nexium, tell your doctor if you have ever had any typeof liver disease b12 and nexium. You may not be able to take Nexium, or you may require a dosageadjustment or special monitoring b12 and nexium.
• Nexium is in the FDA pregnancy category B b12 and nexium. This means that it is unlikelyto harm an unborn baby b12 and nexium. Do not take Nexium without first talking to your doctorif you are pregnant b12 and nexium.
• It is not known whether Nexium passes into breast milk b12 and nexium. Do not take Nexiumwithout first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby b12 and nexium.
How should I take Nexium?
• Take Nexium exactly as directed by your doctor b12 and nexium. If you do not understandthese instructions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them toyou b12 and nexium.
• Take each dose with a full glass (8 ounces) of water b12 and nexium.
• Nexium should be taken at least one hour before a meal b12 and nexium. Follow your doctor'sinstructions b12 and nexium.
• Do not break or chew the capsules b12 and nexium. Swallow them whole b12 and nexium. They are speciallyformulated to release slowly in the body b12 and nexium.
• If you have difficulty swallowing the capsules, one tablespoon of applesaucecan be added to an empty bowl and the Nexium capsule can be opened, and thepellets inside the capsule carefully emptied onto the applesauce b12 and nexium. The pelletsshould be mixed with the applesauce and then swallowed immediately b12 and nexium. The applesauceshould not be hot and should be soft enough to be swallowed without chewing b12 and nexium. The pellets should not be chewed or crushed b12 and nexium. The pellet/applesauce mixture shouldnot be stored for later use b12 and nexium.
• Do not stop taking Nexium even if you begin to feel better b12 and nexium. Your symptomsmay improve before the condition is fully treated b12 and nexium.
• Store Nexium at room temperature away from moisture and heat b12 and nexium.
What happens if I miss a dose?
• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember b12 and nexium. However, if it is almosttime for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take only your next regularlyscheduled dose b12 and nexium. Do not take a double dose of this medication unless otherwisedirected by your doctor b12 and nexium.
What happens if I overdose?
• Seek emergency medical attention b12 and nexium.
• Symptoms of an Nexium overdose include drowsiness, shortness of breath,tremor, loss of coordination, and seizures b12 and nexium.
What should I avoid while taking Nexium?
• There are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activities while takingNexium, unless otherwise directed by your doctor b12 and nexium.
What are the possible side effects of Nexium?
• If you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closingof your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives), stop takingNexium and seek emergency medical attention b12 and nexium.
• Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur b12 and nexium. Continueto take Nexium and talk to your doctor if you experience
· headache;
· diarrhea;
· nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, or constipation; or
· dry mouth b12 and nexium.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur b12 and nexium. Talk to yourdoctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome b12 and nexium.
What other drugs will affect Nexium?
• Before taking Nexium, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the followingmedicines:
· digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps);
· itraconazole (Sporanox) or ketoconazole (Nizoral); or
· iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, Femiron, others) b12 and nexium.
• You may not be able to take Nexium, or you may require a dosage adjustmentor special monitoring if you are taking any of the medicines listed above b12 and nexium.
• Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Nexium b12 and nexium. Talkto your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-countermedicines b12 and nexium.
