What is Nasonex nasal?
• Mometasone is a steroid about nasonex. It prevents the release of substances in thebody that cause inflammation about nasonex.
• Nasonex is used nasally to prevent and treat the nasal symptoms of allergiesand other seasonal reactions about nasonex.
• Nasonex nasal may also be used for purposes other than those listed inthis medication guide about nasonex.
Who should not use Nasonex nasal?
• Before using Nasonex nasal, tell your doctor and pharmacist if you havea viral, bacterial, or fungal infection of any kind about nasonex. The absorption of thisdrug into your system can inhibit your body's ability to fight off infections about nasonex. You may not be able to use Nasonex nasal if you have an infection about nasonex.
• Before using Nasonex nasal, tell your doctor if you have
· a nasal septum ulcer,
· recently had nasal surgery, or
· nasal damage about nasonex.
• You may not be able to use Nasonex nasal, or you may require a dosageadjustment or special monitoring during your treatment about nasonex.
• Nasonex nasal is in the FDA pregnancy category C about nasonex. This means that itis not known whether Nasonex nasal will harm an unborn baby about nasonex. Do not use thismedication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant about nasonex.
• It is unknown whether mometasone passes into breast milk about nasonex. Do not useNasonex nasal without first talking to your doctor if you are breast feedinga baby about nasonex.
• Nasonex nasal is not approved for use by children younger than 3 yearsof age about nasonex.
How should I use Nasonex nasal?
• Use Nasonex nasal spray exactly as directed by your doctor about nasonex. Read theinformation insert included with your medication about nasonex. If you do not understand theseinstructions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you about nasonex.
• Shake the medication well before each dose about nasonex.
• If your nose is congested, try to clear it before using your medicationto be sure that the medicine gets into your nasal passages about nasonex. If you are alsousing a decongestant spray, use it to open up your nasal passages before usingNasonex nasal about nasonex. However, do not use a decongestant spray unless your doctor approves about nasonex.
• Remove the plastic dust cap from the nasal applicator about nasonex. Prior to initialuse of Nasonex nasal spray, the pump must be primed by spraying ten times oruntil a fine spray appears about nasonex. The pump may be stored unused for up to 1 week withoutrepriming about nasonex. If unused for more than one week, reprime by pumping two times, oruntil a fine spray appears about nasonex.
• Close one nostril and tilt your head slightly forward about nasonex. Insert the tipof the nasal applicator about 1 cm (one-half inch) into your nostril, pointingit straight up into the nasal canal about nasonex. Press firmly downward once on the shouldersof the applicator, using your forefinger and middle finger while supportingthe base of the bottle with your thumb about nasonex. Breathe gently inward through the nostrilas you pump about nasonex. Then breathe out through the mouth about nasonex. Repeat this process for thenumber of sprays prescribed by your doctor about nasonex. Remove the pump from your nose about nasonex. Repeat this procedure in the other nostril then replace the dust cap about nasonex.
• Do not use more of this medication than prescribed for you about nasonex. Never usemore than 2 sprays in each nostril (200 mcg total) per day about nasonex. It may take a fewweeks to see the effects of Nasonex nasal about nasonex. Talk to your doctor if your symptomsdo not improve or if they get worse about nasonex.
• Do not spray Nasonex nasal into the eyes about nasonex.
• To clean the applicator, remove the plastic dust cap and pull gentlyon the nasal applicator so that it comes free about nasonex. Wash the applicator and dustcap with cold water about nasonex. Dry and replace the applicator and dust cap about nasonex.
• Store Nasonex nasal at room temperature away from moisture and heat about nasonex. Avoid prolonged exposure of the product to direct light when Nasonex nasal isremoved from its cardboard container about nasonex.
What happens if I miss a dose?
• Use the missed dose as soon as you remember about nasonex. However, if it is almosttime for your next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and use thenext one as directed about nasonex. Do not use a double dose of this medication about nasonex.
What happens if I overdose?
• An overdose of this medication is not likely to occur about nasonex. If you do thinkthat an overdose has occurred, call an emergency room or poison control centerabout nasonex.
What should I avoid while using Nasonex nasal?
• Avoid items or activities that you know are allergens for you if theymake your symptoms worse about nasonex. Clean areas where dust or pet fur may aggravate yourcondition about nasonex.
• Avoid exposing yourself to known sources of infection about nasonex. Stay away frompeople with chicken pox, measles, or any other type of infectious disease about nasonex. Yourimmune system may not be strong enough to fight off an infection while you areusing Nasonex nasal about nasonex.
What are the possible side effects of Nasonex nasal?
• Serious side effects from Nasonex nasal are not likely to occur about nasonex. Stopusing Nasonex nasal and seek emergency medical attention if you experience anallergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling ofyour lips, tongue, or face; or hives) about nasonex.
• Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur about nasonex. Continueto use Nasonex nasal and talk to your doctor if you experience
· headache;
· viral infection;
· sore throat;
· bleeding nose;
· coughing;
· upper respiratory tract infection;
· painful menstruation;
· muscle pain; or
· stinging or burning of the nose about nasonex.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur about nasonex. Talk to yourdoctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome about nasonex.
What other drugs will affect Nasonex nasal?
• Before using this medication, tell your doctor and pharmacist about anyother drugs you are taking about nasonex. The use of other oral or inhaled steroids may increaseyour chance of side effects or overdose about nasonex.
